Subject: 91 Won't Start IP: Logged
Message: All of sudden one day the thing wouldn't start at all, would crank forever, but wouldn't start.
Then my dad goes to start it after like a month of sitting and on the second try, starts right up, I take it for a drive into town(6 or so miles) and back, just fine
Go to drive it to school the next day, because my car is running crappy
I go maybe half a mile, and the thing just dies, won't start. Tow it home, we have no fuel or spark, the fuel pump primes, tried pouring gas in the tb(was bone dry) just wanted to double check if we had spark and that didn't work at all
What could this be? Is there like a sensor on these that would do this, I looked for cps, but the book said, only on the mpfi, and mine is 1991 just tb fi in 92 they switched to mpfi
Ideas?

Message: No spark it's probably pickup coil, ignition coil or possibly the computer.Pull your coil wire from distributor, ground to block and crank and see if you have a good spark.

Message: I would first clean all electrical conections
all plugs all grounds
when it dies or will not start pull a spark plug
to see if its electrical the plugs will be wet
if gas they will be dry
even the computer plugs themselfs become caraded
and lose connection
on any of these trucks before replacing anything
you must clean all connectios these vehicles
unlike the older ones do not switch the pos power
side but they switch the grounds on and off
Just to let you know how common a bad connection
is an 04 intrepid 2 months old 4,000 miles the
transmission begain to randomly down shift and
upshift it was the plug on the transmission and
this was a brand new car with a bad connection
this must be done before anything check and clean
all elect connections
