Help!!

I went out to start my truck today and it sounded like it was running on 2 or 3 cylinders and dumped some heavy gray smoke. Also, it smelled like it was dumpping raw fuel in the exhuast. What should I look for?
I just did a tune up about a month ago and has ran great since. No check engine light.

Check engine doesn't always tell the story. Get it to a scanner at a parts house (free check).

Check fault codes. There may be a code without a check engine light.

was the truck cold or warm when this happened

These systems if the engine temp or IAT is reading
cold will dump more fuel just like a chock that
was stuck shut on an old carbed engine

Another thing that can cause this would be a
leaky fuel injector or a short holding one open

As Bob said the computer will hold pending codes
without lighting the mil light
(melfungtion indicator light)

Also a sensor can be bad or lazy and not light
the mil

a sticky ASD relay will alow the injectors to
feed gas in while its shutting down causing
a flooding condition

just a few things you may want to look into
