Hey i put togather 2 stroker motors
1 3.58 stroke 10 to 1
267/305 rear wheel 14.4 in my 95 4x4
1 4.0 stroke 10.5 to 1 13.2 94 sport 2 wheel
518 trans 309/322 rear wheel this truck is
down right dangerious to drive I made a set
of full length ladders for the 94
I know who ya are LOL
the 3.58 is sitting in my garage I ran the V6 perf
comp on this and a custom ASE in the 94 4.0
stroker
both times were from union grove sanctioned 1/4
mile best of 3 runs
both motors I am using the 318 h beam rods
I just had to prove that 300 RWHP was posible
the local off road racing team has one with the
4.0 stroker running on nitro over 400hp straight
line mud drag truck
We do all there paint work so they let me use
both chassie and engine dynos free thats cool

Message: Hey Larry...it's been a long time since I heard of the project reports. Sounds like the little V6's are kicking some serious a$$ for ya. :)
Best time in my (non-stroked) V6 was a 13.92 @ 100 (that was juicing it though). Got rid of the 3.90's in favor of 3.55's with 18" rims now - got tired of the 1/4 mile scene so I switched back to road course/high speed. Much more fun in the twisty roads now.
It's funny how some think that the 3.9L can't make any power though - we've proven that wrong already. ;)
Keep up the good work on the strokers.
I'm still waiting on some updated software to program the later model JTEC and NGC's now...got tired of sending out the PCM's or having to use AEM or FAST systems.

Message: The GS Motorsports split second fuel controlers
we are using work very well
Did you ever consider the SMT6 from perfict power
this piggy back unit alows you to do both timming
and fuel
we have also figured a way to set the initial
light throttle shift points for o/d and lockup
using the gov test port and pressure switches
in my opinion most lockup way to soon you can
also install the hapa TC101 vac switch or the
patco 1 to 6 lb adjustible to tune downshift
any way you like it
you must use a 200ohm resistor on the comp side
of the sol wires if the comp does not read this
as soon as key on it will shut the gears down
jump from key on off at comp and we just use that
to turn a 30 amp relay on off for the ground on
sol side
pegasus racing has a real nice 30 to 40 psi
adjustible for o/d
I have my 4x4 light throttle
1-2 20mph
2-3 30mph
3- o/d 40mph
0/d 50mph
keeps the tack right on 2000rpm
I am running the V6 perf comp so I am only
controling o/d on my truck
there is a nice writeup on redrider.us A518
conversion
B&M has an adjustible you can set by speed by
tapping the speedo wire at the comp this also
works very well
changing these shift points makes for a very
nice working trans and the comp still has control
to raise the points as normal under hard
excelleration and controling downshifts
I have 2 perf comps 1 org and 1 reman from Atech
motor sports and both have a piss poor o/d set
point at 25mph light throttle what happens after
the 2-3 it will go right into o/d unless your
50% or more on the throttle or less than 2psi
vac who ever wrote the o/d shift program on the
perf V6 comp had his head up his a$$
we also built 2 s/c trucks 1 05 hemi and 1 94
ram new 360 block both over 500 at the wheels
we have put togather other s/c's but not with that
many ponies
we have a lot of fun here at J&J Auto I am retired
now and the name was changed to J&J Custom Auto
still doing mostly muscle car restoring but I
still own the business over 30 years now trying
to get these guys to buy me out 2 nepwes and a
brother and 2 other guys 2 mechs 2 body guys
and 1 screw off LOL
hope no one starts bashing again good to see you
around again some just have no self control LOL

Message: Whew...ok, finally got done reading those posts. ;)
I tried the PFC1, FTC1, and ARC1 from Split Second...just didn't have the time left in the day for Dyno tuning the PFC or FTC and the ARC1 just wasn't cutting it. I've been successfully running the APEXi SAFC-II since 2003 without skipping a beat. I like it because I can keep two fuel curve programs in there (Nitrous and Non-Nitrous) and can switch them on the fly. Plus, some really cool (ok, rice-burner) display options.
I was running the old KRC V6 cam but swapped to a CompCams custom grind a few years ago - basically the same as the KRC but with identical lift on both Intake and Exhaust (.512"). Works really well with the 1.7's I have but had to go with 7.05" pushrods to get the geometry correct.
I'm pretty much out of the truck performance range since their tuneability is somewhat limited (unless they are willing to go fully programmable). The latest toys are running 650-1000+HP (cars obviously and V10's) which opened up a whole new tuning availability area. Some of the options out there for them can be moved to the trucks....with AEM having a really nice standalone (or piggy back) for much less cost than the FAST system.
Haven't really run my truck int he 1/4 mile recently since i've given up that up for high-speed and distance (more fun).
On the speedo, i'm still one of the lucky ones who can just swap out the speedo gear and re-calibrate the actual speedo with the DRB. Makes life simple - no boxes required. You are also one of the lucky ones being able to still run one of the old SBEC V6 Performance PCM's...only 92-93 were the option...don't know why.
Latest undertaking is getting ready to swap a Tremec 6-Speed from a Viper into the V6 - yeah, I want the extra gear. It's not hard at all...just need to find the time to actually get all the parts and the driveshaft measured out (can't stand the 2-piece POS from the factory).
