Subject: what rear gears does my 2000 dak have? IP: Logged
Message: and where would say on the truck? (it's a 2000 SLT 2wd club)
talking with a friend who has a '93, he was thinking about putting in 4:10 gears.
I'm told that off the line the truck would be faster, but this isn't a really good ratio for a daily-driver. the truck would have a slower top speed and rev higher at top speeds. also there would be a loss in MPG.
I also see that a few of you around here are using the 3:92 gears. how do these compare to the 4:10's?
also could anyone tell me what size my rear end is?

Message: We can tell you how to check - on my '00, there is a tag on top of the left axle housing, visible through the wheel well, that tells the ratio. There may also be a tag in the glovebox, or on the diff cover; or a dealer could tell from the vin #.
