Subject: safe to remove clutch fan?? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, im thinkin about removing the clutch fan and not getting an elctric fan and just using the stock fan... just wondering if it will be safe enough, i've got the 180 thermostat and i've bypassed the a/c with a shorter belt..do u think it'll overheat.. I rarely do any city driving and what will i have to do so i can switch on the electric fan or will it come on automatically?? thanks

Message: The electric fan should come on automatically. Once I change my timing belt I'm gonna leave off my clutch fan since I already got the 180 T-stat in there. I've read things will be fine. If you're worried, take it off and leave it in your truck. Drive around with it for a while and see what happens. If things get hot you can just put it back on.

Message: my truck: '00 QC 3.5 5spd, no clutch fan, 195 stat, underdrive crank pulley. i live in south louisiana and have had the clutch fan off for about 2.5 yrs and have never even come close to overheating. even idling for a half hour at a time in traffic in August.
you ever been down here in the middle of August?
one thing you have to remember though: if that electric aux fan or relay takes a crap while you're out you'll be screwed. but, mines been fine for the last 2.5 yrs.
