Subject: Which timing chain assembly
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm ready to replace my timing chain and see some different types on Summit racing. Also will install a tensioner. There are options to get that are able to alter the cam timing. Any info on which one you used, how you like it,what timing options you used How it affected your HP or gas mileage. Do any last longer than others. Should I go with a dealer part. Lots of questions hope I can get some answers. Thanks.

Any chain for the 5.2 318 will work

stock is a silent link chain with the tensioner
will last easy 200,000 miles

roller chain and sprokits which should always be
replaced have a little less resistace to turning
and will last longer but also use the tensioner
with the roller chain

stay away from the mopar performance chain and
sprokits we have found a lot of them to be 4
degrees off you want to be straight up

the roller chain can also give you 5 to 15 ponies
depending on the motor on the V6 3 to 5

that should help ya

Thanks larry for the info. The post link that Adam posted had part #s toward the bottom of the thread, are these stock Dodge #s? Also, the dealer that I have been talking to doesn't recomend the tensioner. Kind of strange. Can I get a tensioner from Dodge? Did it come on later engines? I have a 94 3.9l V6.
