Message: Bernd ,TB works great, however, what would cause the idle to run up to 3000 then slowly come back down,in park, with just a slight tap on the pedal? Would the IAC module be at fault, or should I re-set the PCM again?

| RE: WooHoo!! V6 is coming together! IP: Logged
Message: Reset the PCM, start the engine (without stepping on the accel-pedal), and let the PCM find the correct idle. After about 1 minute, turn the engine off, wait a few seconds, and then restart.
Also, check for any vacuum leaks or vacuum caps missing.

Any chance of getting pre-turbo dyno specs on it? Or at least, some idea of what it makes without the Turbos? :0) Thats one bad-ass looking engine!

Message: bernd...you are running the tentioner with a double roller chain? Is this necessary? The timing chain noise in my stock motor really annoys me. For my built one I have an eldebrock double roller chain, I guess it will stay a bit quieter with the tentioner? It looks like it directly bolts on, no holes to tap, who sells it? I'll have to get some pics of mine, hemi orange with powder coated valve covers and intake manifold. Also, those valves look a lil dirty, didnt have them totaly polished when they had a valve job? I mean ya gotta be photogenic :)

Message: Fubar: Ceramic Engine Paint (1500 degree temp rating)
Lesley: There's one other picture (not on the website) which much more "interesting". ;)
Todd: We 100% plan on running the before and after Dyno runs. I want to see what the N/A specs are (guesstimated at about 200-225HP at the crank).
Dodgeboy: Yes...all "bolt-ons". On the tensioner, the V6 chain has some slack in it (even brand new) which was beyond what I liked. The tensioner is a stock Dodge piece which comes in the V6's. The valves don't need to look pretty...just functional. They have a back-cut on them (can't see that in the pics as it's on the back-side of the valve head) as well as some port and bowl work (port work is covered somewhat with paint and some oil).
The nickle-plated/polished valve covers are due to arrive on thursday and that will be the final "touch" to the engine.

Message: Lesley: Check your private email...you'll understand. ;)
LiBlackDak: The 408 costs much more than what I did to this engine. Besides, anyone can take a 318 or 360 and "stroke" it. Why be like the norm? (Take a under-rated and under-estimated V6 and pump out close to the same amount of HP as the modified V8's.)

Man, you inspiring me... I graduate this winter, after I get a job... build time! I agree with you totally about the V6 being underrated and under appreciated... :0)
Hey, did you get my order? I ordered some stuff from you on Sunday, just wondering if it went through. Should be a Accel Coil, Adapter, Borg&Warner Cap and Rotor, some wires, and the Thermostat?

Message: Todd: Yup, just waiting on the coil to arrive and your shipment goes out (should be tomorrow). There's a bunch of stuff that you can apply from the 5.2/5.9L to the 3.9L....and also a lot of options on headwork, cams, valves, exhaust, etc.

Message: Yeah, I know, same basic engine...
I really don't know what a lot of people complain about, my V6 has always been a real strong puller from 2500RPM up to about 4000. I'm having fun with bolt ons, but I -really- want to tear it down and get dirty with it (no, you sick people, not like that!). The pics of your engine gave me some ideas...
Real shame there aren't any gear-cam-drives with dual idlers... only that one for the 318 with the single idler, and it looks chintzy to me. My big problem at the moment is that I'm running out of things I -can- do. I don't have anywhere to work on my truck, and I need it just about every day. Ah, being a student sucks sometimes... :0/

If it makes it this weekend, great, I'll put it on Sunday. If not, no worries, I'll do it next Sunday. Care to guess which day is my day off? :0)

Yea I know the valves dont have to be pretty =P just figgured they would be looking at the rest of the motor. ;)
Looking for mid 14's out of my combo N/A...not too damn shabby for a 6 cyl.
