Jesse...

The numbers will stay (for now) as they are "legit" times. However, after the new engine is broken in and the Turbo is installed...i'm very sure that the times will be much quicker. :)

Hey Bernd, have you considered squirting Nitrous into the impeller blades of the compessor side of the turbo? It would make it spool up faster, cool the intake charge, etc, etc, etc!

I'd be worried about the nitrous hitting the hot turbo and igniting...

Er...

Hey, that'd be kinda cool... for about 5 seconds. But neat to see the Turbo turn into a jet engine on afterburner. :0)

N20 won't ignite on the compressor side. You are thinking of the exhaust turbine. If the compressor side gets that hot, then you really have problems!

Heh, true. I realized that after posting. Sorry, long day at school. Brain fried. :0/

What'd be the benifit of injecting it into the Turbo though? Better mix with the air, I suppose? Man, I'm wondering about running NOS on a Turbocharged engine... seems a little bit excessive to me. But then, Bernd has access to the goodies and I don't. Darn you Bernd, Darn you to heck! :0)

Think about it, Todd. You can inject the N20 at an angle into the impeller, and make the turbo spool up faster, or, only do it once you're ready to shift, to eliminate turbo-lag.

Actually, I saw a build up on a GN several years ago where they did this same trick.

Can't take credit for it, lol. Just want to see if Bernd was aware of it.

I'm not going that route. Will only be running a 20-25HP dry shot (Sneeky Pete) after the intercooler.

The 20-25Hp shot is for "just in case" scenarios. (Just in case they get cocky.) ;)

Joshua, They're still on backorder. (Were supposed to be in already but were delayed.) I'm getting rather P.O.'d at the manufacturer as well but have been (patiently) waiting for the stock.

RARE TIMES??? ::inhales:: you guys smell No2??? Fubar igniting the turbo would be bad, then Bernd would have to spend another year(jk) to assemble it again.

Third time is a charm though

Errr...BlackDak, how would you ignite the Turbo by spraying N20 into the COMPRESSOR side of the turbo?

EXHAUST gases drive the EXHAUST turbine (as the name implies). The COMPRESSOR is driven by the exhaust turbine, and sits in its own housing, away from exhaust gases.

The compressor side should never get that hot. If it does, then you are losing big time power. Also, if it's hot enough to ignite N20, what happens when that 'hot' air charge (sans the N20 for arguments sake) hits the fuel in the intake port?

As I said earlier, the N20 would actually COOL the intake charge. Injecting it in such a way as to help it keep the turbo spooled up can eliminate lag. Theoretically you could use compressed air to accomplish the same thing!

Do a search on the web, and you'll probably find a lot more info on this.

Bernd's rig is gonna kick @ss and take names anyway!

Everyone, the NO2 will be added after the intercooler, which is after the turbo(s)... NO2 will not ignite by itself, there must also be fuel...

I wouldn't spray NO2 into the turbo as it would be bad...
