Subject: Rough idle IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 rc 3.9 w/ 74,000 miles and a aftermarket exhaust, intake, V8 TB, and super chips progaming. My truck recently has started to have a rough idle after warm up. I have just did a tune-up, because I was told the factory plug wires arch out at idle causing is to miss. This did fix the problem for a couple of days but is is doing it again. Anyone have any other ideas on what it could be?

Message: possible bad plug, weak coil, bad cap and rotor, wrong plug gap all can effect idle during cold or hot running condition.... even a bad fuel injector can give ya that kind of problem.... during cold run the injectors stay open longer... so when engine is hot the injectors dont stay open as long and the fuel spray can be next to a steady drip and not full spray for complete even cylinder mixture causeing a misfire like condition... stock fuel injectors only have a single a hole that fuel sprays out of.... so the slightest amount of carbon build up or just flat out age of the injector can cause an inproper fuel spray....
