Message: Well if you like the truck and want to put money into it then go for it! I mean is any car or truck really worth putting money into? I do it because its a hobby and gives me something to to and think about when I am bored. It is supposed to be enjoyable situation not a worth it or not situation.
"can anyone testify to this claim."
Well that is my testament. If you want to put some bolt on mods on a V6 motor Go For It! I am doing it to my V6 1999 Dakota. Lots of other people are doing it to there V6 Motors too. So if you will enjoy putting money into your Truck then why not do it?
Even the guys that have Vipers and Dragsters and Insanely expensive sports cars or crap ass ford pintos and Ricers, all want to put more money into there vehicles too. Is that worth it?

Message: I told that the 239ci/3.9L is really the same as a 318ci/5.2L, (just missing two pistons) and that the throttle bodies from a 318 fits the v6?
does that mean the K&N 5.2L cold air intake kit will fit a 3.9L?
I've also heard of guys using the 4.7L and 5.9L TB. so what one works?

Message: Pretty much all the bolt on's, air intake, pulleys and such are all interchangable from the 3.9,5.2 and 5.9. My 97 Dakota has a aftermarket throttle body, cold air intake,1.7 roller rockers,MSD coil,JBA headers and a catback exhaust. Lots of improvment over stock performance. This is on a 3.9 V-6. I say go for it with the mods.
Mike
P.S. The 4.7 is totally different

Message: sounds like a pretty sweet ride. Do you have a cardomain.com page for it?
After going through page after page on the v6 forum I realize how annoying posts like this one must be. Everyone asks these same questions.
so thank you for your reply's.
Somethings i was wondering about was. The 3.9l's stock air intake is inclosed and is ported to the passenger fender correct? kepping it isolated from engine heat.
Isn't this a "cold air intake"? some people on this forum have said that aftermarket intake kits like K&N just arnt worth it.
On the other hand some people have said that swapping the stock filter with a k&n washable filter works just as well.
