ok heres the plan, since everyone says that a 3.9 is a 318 with 2 pistons cut off, could i buy 6 318 flat top pistons say out of jegs and put them in a 3.9?

I am pretty sure that you are able to. Check the bore sizes on them. I think that you have to modify the connecting rods and the crank, but it should work.

I believe the rod is different from the 318 rod but the piston is the same. Just as long as the bore size, wrist pin location and valve clearence is the same you should be ok. Why change the piston ??

Check some of the auto parts stores that have online parts lists. If they list the same part numbers for pistons fitting the 3.9 and the 5.2, then you'll be ok.

everything is the same ... magnum 318 rods and pistons will fit in a magnum V-6

Forseti, i could be wrong but, i thought i read somewhere they are the same except the width on the big end of the rod. i think the v6 big end is a little narrower but, will fit with a little machining.

Just go to hughesengines.com for your pistons
318 and V6 the same

The rods same length but the crank jornal end is
wider however with sme machine work on the V6
crank the V8 rods will fit

Hughes has the 9.8 to 1 mill the heads .020
and your almost 10 to 1

They also have great prices on pistons
