 Subject: Help with buddy's Dakota

My friend has a '98 Dodge Dakota RC, V6 Auto and it is having transmission problems. He says that it will take off in third gear. Very bad performance off the line and if you stomp it, it will hesitate then kick down and take off. He said that it will not shift into overdrive, but said that it doesnt not even try. I hooked the code reader up to it and it said solenoid A is bad and that the 12 volt relay circuit is bad. What to do?

That is a RE trans
You can check the sols 200ohm 180 to 220 normal
also check the elect connections and ground
the other issue is the presure sensor and sol
replace them both fluid and filter change and
go from there
use good fluid only

the sensor and sol are dealer only around $200
you do not need to drop the valve body out to
replace them just be careful with the o ring seals
on them
