Subject: Trucks mad at me IP: Logged
Message: This just started acting up this weekend. Around 1500 rpms my truck kind of cuts out. It does it more ofter when I'm in 4th gear at ~16-1700rpms. Not sure what the gear has to do with it or it's just throttle position. Any ideas on why it would start doing this? What are some indications the timing chain is bad other than the annoying rattling I constantly hear. Are there any problems that it could cause? I have everything I need to replace it but I can't work on my truck in the parking lot on base so I have to wait til the hobby shop is open so I can take it in and work on it. Any help is much appreciated Thanks.

Message: If it is sputtering at lower revs and sometimes when you get on the throttle hard it might be plug wires. My mom's Mazda and S10 both did the same thing. Do you run the fuel supply low, might have picked up something from the bottom of the gas tank.

Message: Yea I decided to run it to almost empty this time b4 I filled up. I checked plug wires when I got back but I'm not going to cross that off yet.
I'm gonna take all my spark plugs out and look at it and take a look at my distributor also. I dont think I can get in to work on my truck til next friday so the timing chain is gonna have to wait.

Message: I would not wait for the timing chain. If you are running it while it break... well say good bye to your heads.

Message: the v-6 isnt interference motor... if the chain breaks your not bending valves or damaging your heads unless it happens to break while you got the pedal mashed down the floor and over rev it over to the point the where the needle on the tach says like 7grand.... which wont happen cause the rev limiter will kick in way befor.... running it low on gas isnt gonna hurt it cause one turn will rock the gas around and clean off the filter cause its an internal stlye filter in the tank which never calls for replacement.... if its stalling at low rpm its possibly it could be a bad TPS sensor.... if it stalling at stops it could be bad IAC Valve... possible bad pick up coil that sits in the distributer(black plate that gets held doen byy the cap)... bad coil dropping spark at low throttle.... some areas to check...

Message: Well, it is funny that mine went out. Because the fuel filter got clogged and burnt the pump up.
