Subject: 9 1/4 rear end IP: Logged
Message: Will an RT 9 1/4 rear end fit in place of my 8 1/4 rear end without any major modifications? The 8 1/4 is going out and I have a chance to get one from a wrecked RT. Thanks for the responses.

Message: Can't say without knowing what years you are talking about. For example, a gen 3 rear is wider than a gen 1 or 2.

Message: just make sure your gear ratios are the same or you will be really screwed when you put it in 4 wheel

Message: The yoke on the 9 1/4 is a flat flange. Do I need an adaptor to match the driveshaft up or should I change the yoke to the standard yoke like the 8 1/4? Thanks for your response.

Message: mopar only used 2 sizes ujoints it should be the
same however check the length on the drive shaft
both G3 trucks so the spring pads will be the same
and bolt right in
almost all of the RT's had the 3.92 ratio and the
sure grip posi the 8.25 it was 3.91 if it is a
4x4 you will need to get a 3.91 in the front
