If somebody doesn't tell you what it means i will find out monday I am a auto tech at a shop. I will look on the troubleshooter on my snap on scanner. It sounds like a pcm problem

I would greatly appriciate it Eddie. I have been trying to find out forever. The truck doesn't run bad or anything? Least I don't think it does. It kinda gets crappy mileage.

Its sounds like a 90% chance the comp is bad. That code means an internal pcm failure.

Try a salvage yard most give a 30 day warranty. I think it would be fine to just drive unless you live in a area where they dont inspect you truck if you show a enginge light or code.

you could try www.car-part.com. it's database searches salvage yards all across the country. as Eddie said, if it's running ok and you don't have to worry about the CEL for inspection i'd roll with it. but, you'll run the chance of it(the PCM) taking a dump on you in BFE! that wouldn't be cool.

What year is the truck ? The PCM is covered under the emissions warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles ....

judging by the code "62" it's got to be '95 or earlier OBDI. i guess he's SOL there as far as warranty.

All the that code is saying is that the service reminder to have the emmisions system checked. It shouldn't ever go out from that. Its a easy comp to change so I would get one from salvage yard and just unplug the wires from yours and plub the new one in and check it to see if works fine. If it does i would just throw it behind the seat and hang on to it. I dont know how the salvage yards in your area are, but the ones in mine are starting to crush anything over two yrs old. I just went and bought an entire truck for parts and a local yard for 90 bucks.
