Message: I have a 2001 dakota sport 3.9. I was considering an msd 6a ign box. I want to know if i need anything else other than the ign box to do this mod, and if this upgrade is worth the money. Here's a list of my current mods:
-dynomax super turbo cat-back
-accel coil
-K&N FIPK intake
-taylor thundervolt wires
-autolite XP plugs
-poweraid TBS
-jet stage2 performance chip
-rancho rsx shocks
-rhino linner
-trail fx fiberglass taunna cover

Message: The regular 6a box with the obd2 system you
will also need the tach adapter or it will
trip coil circuit codes
You can use the stock coil but its better to
use the MSD 8207 coil with the system
Get rid of the autolites
NGK FR5 gap .055
now you will feel the gains
This set up will get you about 5hp on a stock
truck better off idle low end quicker revs and
better gas mileage limited only by how heavy
your foot is
the throttle body spacers do nothing on the 3.9
not worth the money if you want some real world
gains get a fastman or F&B throttle body
average gain 15 to 18 rear wheel and around
20 foot pounds of torque
The MSD Box and coil is an excellent upgrade but
you must use good plugs and open the gap go
NGK it will tickle you pink and you will have
a smile from ear to ear the first time you
step on it
