Shopping the all-seasons tire market, Tire Rack reviews on the Yokohama Geolandar HT's seem to be favorable. However, the reviews don't cover real winter snow use. I'm looking for quiet, smooth handeling yet good snow/ice traction and don't really need the aggressive all-terrain flavors the dealers push like Kelly Timberlines. Found out most A/T tires are not tread or tire warranteed 'cause they think you're off-roading the Baha or something.
Anyone have or recommend the Yokos? I'm not shopping the spendy Mich's, BFG's or Goodyears. Coopers and Kellys are in there. Local quotes on the spendy three I mentioned are $650 - $725 for 245/70 - 16's .... ouch! I'm thinking $500 for new skins is about right.
Anything made...Can be made Better.

i just bought 4 new good year wranglers w/the kevlar belts 1-10, i give them a 10,$650 mounted for 4 they stop on water great, and "very quiet" ,no gas improvement though, and the ride is better i had yokohamas before and they were terriable...couldnt take off on wet pavement

look into hankook tires they have nice agressive tread thats not road noisey on dry pavment...

yea, my truck came with goodyear eagle LS's which are supposed to be very good tires. and they are... on dry pavement. anything else, forget about it. i'd go with the goodyear wrangler's myself... a more aggressive tread pattern.

I've got the Yoko Geolandar HT's. I've had them for about 30,000 miles. They've stil got plenty of tread remaining. i'll prrobably get 50,000 or more miles out of em'. They are by far better than the stock wranglers i had. They handle well on dry and wet roads and are very quiet. I've never driven them on snow or ice so i've no idea how they'd handle there. I will most likely buy another set when these are gone.

I used to run the coopers but I would only get
35,000 miles out of them
I went with the Uniroyal liberator from wall mart
and they work great off road and in the snow
just had the free rotation and ballance done
at 6,000 miles and they look great and are rated
for 50,000 unlike the coopers 30,000
Actualy they do better than the more agresive
cooper
I am on my 4th set of tires 95 4x4 had some bad
luck org sliced the side wall on a rock replaced
all, cooper descover ran file over ruined steel
belt, cooper ST almost bold at 35,000 now the
uniroyals LOL what luck hey
They also cost about $150 less

One thing I love about these uniroyal tires
is they are quite
Man the coopers and the stock org tires all
whined loud drive ya nuts
I 4 wheeled up hills where the cooper would
break lose and the uni's grabed this was wet
woods leaves on the ground low low just
crawling, I could not beleave how well they grab

I understand the old Wranglers were like rocks.
I saw some at Wally World recently for $50 ea.
The Liberators are proof you don't have to pay a lot for a good tire. Mine is only 2wd but those tires work well out in fields and in snow, good in the wet, too.

All I have to add is that I am very happy with
the uniroyals
hopefuly I will not run something over or slice
one on a rock like I usualy end up doing
I had to laugh the day I ran the file over the
guy came up and showed me the file and tried to
sell me 1 new tire LOL
I told him what good is 1 new tire going to do
just put 4 new ones on
I sliced right threw the steel belt

I ran the yoko geloander AT's on my 2001 dakota, 265/70 16's fit fine on a stock 2wd with no lift. The tires are great, very little noise, great traction off road, never got stuck once and zero hydroplane. Thry last about 35-40 k as long as you keep the air proper and rotate and balance every 6k. I paid $550 for mine drive out from discount tire. When my tires wear out on my new tacoma, I will be buying a set of geolander all terrains for it as well.
