Subject: syn trans fluid IP: Logged
Message: I have to change the rear seal in my transmission and expect to loose fluid. So I figure I might as well change the fluid. A lot of people on this site recommend synthetic fluid. Since a fluid drain only gets about half the fluid out ( can't drain torque converter), is it worth it to put in synthetic fluid? Will I have any benefit or problems with 1/2 regular and 1/2 synthetic fluid?
Thanks for any comments or suggestions

Message: I use Amsoil in every thing.
Amsoil has a good transmission flush procedure on their website. Messy, but it works well.
That will remove all the old fluid.
I also suggest using Seafoam's Transtune.
That will clean out the trans, and prepare it for new syn fluid.
