Subject: intake gasket IP: Logged
Message: I'm about to install new intake manifold gaskets. I know I need RTV or sealer on the gasket around the water ports but what about the intake ports. Am I suppose to use RTV or a sealer around the intake ports?? If so, what works best?
What is a typical vacuum reading for these V6 engines with 150K miles
Thanks for any help and opinions

Message: I used the black rtv around the water ports and for the rubber end gaskets.
If you don't have a Haynes manual, you should get one. Most of the guys here have one. It has lots of good basic info.

Message: the only place you use silicon is at the ends
of the vally cover gaskets the 2 small flat ones
all 4 corners
where the intake and cover gaskets meet
no where else
from center out x pattern side to side towards
ends 4, than 8 than 12 foot pounds torque
