Message: i know that there are tons of intakes and tons of exhaust systems. Could anyone tell me the MOST cost effective way to increase horse and mpg. I just bought a 99 dakota 2wd with the V6. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: nick, one thing that's overlooked when it comes to mpg. the tires. make sure they are properly inflated with a good alignment. you'll be suprised how much this can help mileage if it's correct.

Message: thanks, that was actually the first thing i did was get new tires. And another thing whats with the paint on a lot of the dakotas. It looks like someone used a pressure washer to wash the thing. Its all chipped off. Did dodge use poor paint around this year. Its similar to the problems they were having with there neons.

Message: i don't know about '99's but my '00's paint is great. when it's cleaned and waxed it looks like it just came out of the showroom. and it's been outside 24/7 all of it's life.
could be you got a bad re-paint.

Message: hum... not sure, its pretty much down to the bare metal im just hoping when i get it repainted that they arent going to kill me on the labor to sand and so on. we will see. but other than the paint its a great truck. Actaully its my first dodge. I have always had ford and chevy and was always weary of dodge but i have to say its definately a beautifuly truck. And i was looking for a compact but didnt want something too small. Fits my needs PERFECT.
