Message: Yesterday I went to start my 98 3.9 cc slt and it simply went click click click ...sounded like it was coming from fuse box area. It wouldnt start. I tried like 10 more times and it eventually turned over and ran fine.
Today I wake up and it does same thing, except it doesnt start. After tapping batter and making sure connections were good it started but wouldnt idle. It would just die. I started it up a few more times and held the gas and eventually it held and it drove fine. Check engine light is now on. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks

Message: You know I would have said it sounded like a starter problem until you that it wouldn't idle. I it were me, I would probably still pull off the starter and take it down to AutoZone to get checked.

Message: Is battery the original ?
If so = probable time due to replace.
A low battery voltage will cause computer malfunction and probably kick a code as well.
Several guys have complained of a similar situation and it was the battery at fault..
May have a bad cell .. Do you have a voltmeter to check ?
Off should read just above 12 volts , preferrably closer to 13.
Running should measure 14 + up to close to 15.
