Message: Dis. basically only controls fuel injection timing and delivery of spark to correct cylinder.
If in 'reasonable' position will not affect 'spark timing'. Does determine which is no.1 .. { cam position }. Yes , you could be 180 out. Need to pull drivers side valve cover to verify 'both valves closed when no. 1 comes up
on compression ' , then ROTOR in dist points to number 1..

Message: yeah i have tried it to where when the first plugg sparks i lifted up the distributer cap and found out where the inside rotor was and put number one on that position and it still does not want to time

Message: #1 cyl TDC compresion stroke
now rotor must line with cyl line on dist pickup
plate
This controls the injector timing only if you
are more than 10 degrees off it will not start
or it will start and not stay running
now if for some reason the timing chain is off
it will never start
There is no way you can get the timing off unless
some how you got the crank timing ring on wrong
and that would also be hard to do

Message: The long block i got already had the timing chain on it so im hoping that is ok. i thought i had it at TDC but the more i think about it i may have it backward. i was looking for the intake valve closeing but i cant remember which valve i was looking at now. it think has me frustrated. ill have to go check that again. If i have it 180 out ant flip the dis will it be right? mike
