Subject: 93 Dodge Dakota engine swap IP: Logged
Message: i have a 1993 dodge dakota, its 2 wheel drive, has the 3.9 magnum v6, and has the A-500 4 speed auto tranny... I'm wanting to put the 360 5.9L v8 in my truck, is it a direct bolt in or do i need a kit, and should i get carburated or fuel injection. now as far as the tranny goes my a500 is junk i took it apart and the gears are shredded and the clutch discs are welded together i have no idea what the **** the previous owner did to it.. anyways i was looking at the TF 727 or A904 tranny because they are cheap and tough and i was wondering if those will fit in my truck and if i need a certian mount? any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Message: Hey, sorry I can't be of any help, because I don't no either, but I have a 94 dak and I'd like to swap the engine in it. Just wanted to know if you could let me know how things go with the swap, the fit, and the cost. Thanks

Message: If emissions not a problem - you are better off
carburated. Try to get the 360 complete with the
tranny . Torque converter MUST be for a 360..
Ideally you want the vehicle readily available for any unforeseen item availability..

Message: all you need to do is add
pin 17 #7 injector
pin 18 #8 injector
use the V8 comp either stock or perf
you can use the V6 flexplate and the A500 but
I would go with a TCI 220500 shift kit
tciauto.com
new TV valve plunger and sleave and a new
1-2 accumulator valve
transmissionpartsusa.com
All will bolt right up no kit needed
you can run the V6 exhaust system also but in
your future plans get a dakota V8 y pipe they
are bigger and a little diff cat and o2
setup
The A518 will also bolt right in place of the
A500 we just did this in a 88 dak 4x4
