Message: uhm... go with the 360. its gonna be the same amount of work, and slightly worse mileage than the 318. both great motors, but you might as well get the most out of your work. and go with the nv3500 tranny. or if you want an auto, go with the 46rh. OR you could just use whatever tranny you have now till it kicks the bucket, then go 46rh.

Message: if you use a 318 a v6 tranny will hold up... they are basicly the same tranny but the clutch drums inside have less clutchs compared to a V8 trans.... just add a cooler and should be ok.... a 360 motor will kill a V6 trans in a heart beat... to much torque for those clutchs.... just get a V8 trans.... got to www.car-parts.com and put in your vehicle make and model year and you find all interchangable parts for your conversion.... im about to do a 5.9 swap over the winter when i'll have to time to rebuild the motor and im just getting everything i need out of a 99 dakota r/t.... it all swaps over.....

Message: A500 same as old 904 6" clutch's
A518 same as old 727 8" clutch's
They just added the o/d and lockup converter
most of the valve body parts servos and planitarys
are interchangeable
the first lockups were hyd controled and did not
always work so good
They are a fairly strong trans stock with some
work can be made very strong
