 Subject: dodge V6 Trans Identification

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a 3.9 V6.
I need to adjust the transmission bands but
have been unable to figure out whic trans is in his truck. Does any one know how to ID it.

Pretty sure it's the 42RE...I think that's all they put in the 3.9L Daks, but don't quote me on that.

I have a haynes manual for this truck and it only
list the 46RE and the 47RE fit 98 and up ?????

42RE elect gov pressure control
The A500 have a square pan with an angle on
1 corner
The A518 have a rounded part on 1 side like
a part of an s
the 47 is a desil trans
there was a 44RE A500 they used behind the V8's
in the daks
mark them with a file and see where they are at
now RE front 2 1/2 rear 4 this is from 72 inch
pounds snug with a short wrench take a half off
2 and 3 1/2

You can call a dealer with your vin and they
can call up a build sheet from dcc and tell
you exactly whats in there and also tell you
the band adjustments
