Message: Not unless you drive thru a lot of water..
8.5 is only more insulation on the wires..

Message: 8mm taylor
8.5 msd
either is a very good choice what to look for
is low resistance per foot
I know the MSD are very tough I started my truck
on fire 1 day in my garage told my nephew to
get the fire extingusher what does he do grabs
my dogs bucket of water and puts it out
they wer in the direct flame for quite a while
and they did not melt the rear injector wire
and the vac lines all melted LOL
It was just on of those bad days

Message: Thanks for your responce Larry, I was looking at the 8mm Taylor Spiro Pro and the new 8.5mm Taylor Thundervolts wondering weather I would get any performance gains using the new 8.5mm over 8mm in my 5.9L Comments would be appreciated.

Message: the thundervolt are a little less resistance
than the reg taylor
really no perf gains here just a little hotter
spark which is always good
If your running the stock ign use a good brass
incerts cap and rotor like the napa mo 26 &28
they will also get more volts to the plugs

Message: Larry, I installed Borg Warner brass cap & rotor,
Autolite AP3923 plugs & Taylor's new Thundervolt 8.5mm wires on my 99' 5.9L. Truck runs great but have "check engine" light on. Would computer need to be flashed for these mods? or just reset? Appreciate comments, Thanks

Message: cap rotor or wires should not trip any codes
I would reset and check to be sure you did not
knock anything off when you changed the wires
I have never seen a truck trip the MIL Light from
cap rotor wires or plugs thats weird
reflash is only needed if you mod so much you go
behond what the stock tables will handle and
thats quite a bit
You should try the NGK FR5 they run better than
the autolites
on your obd2 gap at .040
the NGK Vpower plugs we are having some great
resaults with better perf and gas mileage over
the autolites $2.25 each
The E3 $5.99 summit racing 3.62
these will run even better
Halo $8.99
The E3 and halo run the best with the Vpower right
behind them
I am running the FR5 in my 4x4 with the MSD 6a
and MSD 8207 coil at .055 they run great the
AP3923 ran well at .060 the NGKs run better
There were no halo 15's left on the shelf so
I droped the NGK in
I run the halo's in all my motors as a rule but
these guys at the shop never tell me they use
them and when I want them there always gone LOL
The Vpower is what KRC and Hughes engines are
using now they used to run the autolites before
they found out the NGK ran better as we did I was
just loking for a plug that ran well but did not
have the big price tag like the halo's most
would not spend the money those who did were
very happy but the NGK ran almost as well so
we sell a lot of them these days NGK and Halo
is what you will find on our shelf
MSD 6a box always 2 in stock
8207 coil always 2 in stock
especialy around chrismass when the wife alows
these poor guys to spend some money on there
trucks they stop in and ask for that stuff and
when they can get it installed, I usualy tell
them today right now

Message: I'd like to ad a bit here. Should you deside to buy some other brand. Just be sure they are spirol wound and silicon casings . Also be sure the connecters are volconized at both ends rather then plastic. Read the info on the packaging prior to buying making sure they have high heat resistance. 8MM or 8.5MM are both great wires. Always use non conductive lub on all ends to make them come off easy when you change plugs. This keeps you from doing damage by pulling hard if they stick.
So many problems .... So little time
