Message: Finally broke down and ended my misery with my 2001 quad cab dakota. I had it for 28 months and spent $2800 in maintenance. I fought numerous issues from bearings to transmission sensors, to tires only lasting 17k miles. When I traded it in it was getting 11 mpg in the city and 14 on the highway. I bought a 2006 toyota tacoma and do not regret it at all. It has 56 more hp than the dakota, is longer, wider, rides like a lexus and best of all it is getting 20mpg average. Maybe I just had a lemon but I will never buy another dodge again. So long fellow mopar brothers.

Message: Hopefully you don't have similar problems with Toyota because you would then be stuck between buying a Chevy or Ford.
One thing I've found to be true and that is for every horror story there are thousands of satisfied customers no matter what brand or model you buy. Ok, maybe that was not true of the Yugo.

Message: I bought a new 93 dakota V6 2 wheel 5 speed
first thing to go starter
next when it did start when cold it would not
move would die had to hold it to the floor to
take off computer prob 2,000 miles on the truck
chrysler bought the truck back under the lemon
law
the next 2 daks I bought were great trucks I am
still driving the 95 4x4
stock motor was pulled at 80,000 for no reason
except to put the stroker crank in now I took
that out for no reason except to run the 92
motor I got it ran so well its still in there
getting 22plus mpg
I love my dak and plan to keep it at least
another 10 years and a 100,000 miles has 115,000
on truck and 92 motor has almost the identical
mileage and has made dyno runs of 186 189 RWHP

You may be right but take a look at this message board. Look at all the problems being posted every day. Now show me a message board for Toyota trucks that has the same amount of "help me with this problem post".
I loved the truck when I bought it. But the 3.9 flat out sucks in a 4000lb truck, and if i wanted to get 10-11 mpg I would have bought the v8 dakota. I actually bought my dakota because my father in law had 1 for 10 years with very little problems. One thing I did notice was my 2001 and his 1992 had the same problems. The rotors were always warping, and the damn exhaust bolts were always breaking of in the head. You would think dodge would address some of these problems but apparently as long as people keep buying them, they do not care.

Message: I just had the dash pulled to replace the blower motor resistor in my 98 v-6. I also had them replace the blower motor & the heater core which are prone to failure on daks. It was nice of Dodge to bury the resistor up behind the dash where u have to pull the dash to replace a $20 part. So now, I'm $750.00 poorer thanx to a piss poor dodge design.
