 Subject: 92 dak water pump...which one?

So I need to change my waterpump in my '92 3.9L dak...how do I determine which one I need? The one with or without the "threaded heater port". I only see reference to it, but no pictures of the difference between the two. Anyone have this experience?

You need the threaded heater port. The question is do you want to put the heater port in yourself (pump w/o port) or do you want to buy a pump with the threaded port already installed. Your old one is probably rusted in place. Get the pump that comes with the threaded port. On your current water pump you should see threaded port to the right (while standing in front of truck and looking at engine) of the pulley, your heater hose is connected to it.

I have a 93 dak and just put a new waterpump on. mine was the unthreaded and i need to by the tube that fits in the port. it seems like a bad design to me but i guess it works

Ok...got a pump...w/ bolt on pulley. I just realized (of course after I bought the pump) that I have a press on model in the truck. I didn't realize that it didn't come with the pulley. Anyway, I don't have the tools to remove or press on a pulley, so, does anyone know where to source a bolt on pulley?

I've gotten a water pump for the same engine and year and it had the pulley already installed. I haven't seen a puller or installer for it. I'm sure its pressed on.

Apparently, it is. I went back and they guy at Napa could bring up pictures of them both...press on with a pulley installed and the bolt on without the pulley installed. I guess it would be nice to have the bolt model if you were underpowering your accessories, but I can't find pullies for that truck anywhere...

you might want to be careful with those waterpumps. i think the bolt on pulley is reverse rotation from the pump with the press on pulley. the press on is for serpentine belt and the pump spins the opposite direction from the v-belt pulley one.
