Subject: Rough Running V6 IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I have a 97CC 3.9 4x4 and it started to run rough out of the blue last week. I have a Jasper motor with ~30k miles on it. I cranked it up for work one morning, walked to feed the dog and came back to chitty chitty bang bang's brother. It was idling very rough, goosed the gas and got a decent response and cleared up the rough idle. On the way to work the motor just started to sputter while driving. The motor was not responsive like it should be and would lose speed on overpasses with no acceleration evident in the climbs with the motor floored.
Here's the kicker, it doesn't always do this. It might be that way in the morning and not that way in the afternoon and vice versa, bad in the afternoon and good in the morning.
This saddens me so please tell me what you think I should look at first. Thanks guys!

Message: If its the fuel pump, is there a special kind of guage I need to check the pressure or will a run of the mill pneumatic guage work? (have a spare one from my compressor) I had a guy at work say the same that he thought it was something with the fuel pump/regulator/filter and said that I should check to see if the pressure was right.
I will check the grounds tonight but I want to say they are ok. The strap that goes from the back of the block to the firewall was off for about 2 months after I had the Jasper Motor put in. Mechanics at the shop told me I didnt need it but I made them hook it up anyway.
If its the coil I can probably get that covered under the Jasper warranty. Larry, if you are familiar with the jasper Motors can you comment on that? I bought a complete Jasper Motor after the factory motor cratered a couple years ago.
Thanks guys!
