 Subject: 1996 Dodge Dakota A/C Problem

I was driving along, the air was blowing cold. Next, I heard a slight rattling, buzzing sound, sort of like radio static, and then no more cold air. The fan was still blowing, just no cold air. Any suggestions or opinions of what went bad? Thanks.

Evaporator sprang a leak?
Did any vapor come out the vents?

No vapor came out of the vents and I didn't see any moisture under the dash. Maybe the compressor?
