Message: Think back old school
Why did they have the big fly wheels on the
steam engines
an object in motion tends to stay in motion
getting a 500 pound fly wheel turning just think
how much it would take to stop it
this is one theroy
Also running under load more power needed its
running better timing and fuel tables to get
the power up

Message: A flywheel's only job is to store enough energy to compress the fresh charge in each cylinder before combustion. A large flywheel would require large amounts of energy to spool up during acceleration which would kill your fuel mileage.
Conversely a light flywheel requires less energy to spool up meaning more power is transferred to the wheels which increases efficiency which as everyone knows, increased mileage.
