Subject: Stage 1 Intake Manifold!!! IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering how much HP and TQ I would gain from Hughesengine's Stage 1 intake manifold?
I was also wondering how much HP and TQ I would gain from Hughesengine's basic camshaft?
Or what is the best performance mod or mods for under $700.00?

Message: the manifold by itself won't do any good. first open up the exhaust. Hiflow cat- approx 80 bucks, Dynomax 17748 muffler approx 75 bucks.
then add a Fastman or F & B throttle body and Harland sharp or Crower 1.7 roller rockers.
these are basic mods for a 6 and if you can install these cost will be under 1G. and you will have noticeable gains.
a little more and you can add a Jet Stage 2 chip or Hypertech or Superchips tuner.
have fun.

Message: Exhaust without any significant mods won't give you any gains in hp. Save your money and invest it in the intake side. Go with either 1.7 roller rockers or a cam. I'm not sure what the "basic camshaft" is but a cam is preferable to the 1.7 RR's. If you are going to do a cam then you might as well do all the porting and polishing of the heads and intake manifold. If you can do all the work yourself you'll have less than $500 invested and you will get between 25 and 40 hp for your efforts. After you have done all of that you can then worry about your exhaust. You won't get much out of the hi flow cat unless there is a problem with your current one. I don't know what is available in the way of a flash for the v6 pcm but that would be the way to go there. The next best thing is a superchips tuner.

Message: Its not that hard if you have exp with motors
The intake will net you around 15hp/20t from 2500
on up
the cam 20 25hp
heads 10 15hp
depending what is all done here 35 to 45hp and
around 50 torque this is at the wheels
There is a problem with the V8 body having 50mm
throttle plates but the V6 bore is only 48mm
it effects the low end however if you open the
bores to 50mm which hughes will do for you this
prob is solved and than the stock V8 body with
the 48mm torque step runs well and will show
off idle low end gains
