I will be pushing around 240HP or more on my 03 3.9L tranny. My question is will my tranny be able to handle that much power and if its not what can I do to get it ready for that power?

So how are you going to be pushing 240hp? A supercharger might get you up to that. But if you're using just what you've posted so far its not gonna happen. 3.9 stock is 175 so that extra 65 isn't comming from water injection and headers.

No, my truck isnt totally stock. I have exhaust, intake, ram air hood, and a couple other things done to it. All I want to know is if my tranny can handle that much power and more.

install a shift kit and an aux trans cooler and it should last a while depending how much you beat on it.

but a 240 hp N/A v6? not without opening that motor up. and for the extra timing you said you need in another post, 2 words, "custom flash".

Well since no one is on my post I guess I will get on stacy's. I have done some research and it seems to work. A news channel tested it and they said it worked but then again they could have been paid some money to say that. but please explain why it doesnt work Forseti? I would really like to know before I buy.

TransGo TFOD 518 shift kit and it will be fine

the stock motor 200hp if you plan on going behond
that blower turbo nitrious or internal mods will
need to be done 175 at the wheels can be optained
with a stock motor and the boltons and a little
comp timming and fuel tunning

Just don't beat the dog doggie out of it and it
will hold up just fine

upto 98 use the TCI 220500 kit
99 and up transgo TFOD 518

with either kit replace the
TV plunger valve and sleave
transmissionpartsusa.com $30
use the origanal spring and 2 shim washers
the trango springs are a little to much and you
will be bouncing off the rev limiter

The 1-2 accumulator valve plastic with crap seal
rings will leak and give you soft and or bump
shifts or both

you can replace this with a new plastic from
transpartsusa or go to red rider and get an old
style alm valve with steel seal rings same as
old 904 727
plastic $30
good alm $15 part # 3A3
if you have an old trans laying around just get
the valve out of it to use
redrider.us

The transgo kits are also a littlr harder to set
up the hole sizes they recomend are way of the
money my plate holes as many were already bigger
than what they recomend you need to see what you
have and go from there usualy end up taking the
valve body out a few times to get what you want
other than that they work good

I am saying every time you take off floored

you can get on it when you want to if you feel
any slipage back off untill you get the kit in

they are relitivly strong stock with a kit setup
corectly you can bang it all day every day and
not worrie

the weakest part is the 1-2 shift sliping band
after that real strong this comes from blow by
on the 1-2 accumulator

here is how you can solve that very cheap remove
the springs and install a blocker rod in the
valve this will firm 1-2 and 2-3 shifts with
nothing else done to the trans

I have demensions if you want to do this

you can see how to install by going to tciauto.com
instructions middle row 220500 good picks there
of the entire kit install

the street strip version also removes the #7 ball
you can also do this and the blocker with no
other mods very ferm shifts no slip

what kills the trans is slow shifts sliping and
heating things up heat kills transmissions

We use all syn fluid either Amsoil or Redline
both work well

What I am thinking is you have some miles on the
trans and the TV and 1-2 acc are wore this will
give you some probs if you start pounding it hard

Its worth the time and money to replace these
parts

I ran my 267/305 stroker with a A500 this is rear
wheel hp and I hammerd the trans and it never
wimpered 1 bit with 80,000 miles on the trans

you can even get more radicle by using the cusion
blockers in both front and rear servos but you
will need to change the rear servo spring it will
shift so fast the rear spring stock will not
release fast enough and you will get some shift
overlap this will take out the second band real
fast

Dang...

Larry, you the man
thanks for all the information!

and yes my transmission has about 150,000 good miles
my dad drove her very well for the first 140,000

okay, when i have some money i promise i will do
exactly what you are tellin me! haha

but for the time being, it is safe to floor
it rolling in second gear and let her shift to third?
and dead stop launches are not very good correct?

and what do you mean by "what kills the trans is
slow shifts sliping..."

im sure ill get the new 1-2 accumulator and tv-valve
done in a few months

but i will be easy on her

i just wanna beat my friends 2006 nissan titan!! that
thing has some balls for how heavy it is
