Message: Just scroll through the forums and you can find a boat load of mods these guys have done. Some seem pretty easy while others will take some know how.
I plan to add a larger throttle body and replace my clutch fan with an electric fan and the shroud mounted temp sensor in my 97CC3.9 4x4 to get a little extra horsepower.
My 2 cents....if you have $2500 to put into it, I would sell the V6 and use that money to drop in a 318. But thats me...
Good Luck!

Message: call www.hughesengines.com and completely rebuild your motor along with buying all the bolt ons like a throttle body, intake manifold, cold air intake if you dont have it yet, superchips tuner, etc...
or save up another grand and buy a supercharger kit from www.krcperformance.com
either one will add about the same amount of horsepower unless you do both!
that should do the trick for ya

Fastman Tb or F&B tb
Harland-Sharp 1.7:1 roller rockers
Black magic electric fan
synthedic oil/trans fluid/differantal fliud
3.91 gears
Flowmaster 50 series delta-flow 2 1/2in-duel 2 out
hi-flow Cat
Gibson headers
180 degree t-stat

That's what I'd do.( Am I missing anything guys?)
Ask 10 people and you'll get 10 answers. Now You won't have a race truck when your done, but you'll have a sweet running V6 Dakota. If you want a race truck look into a supercharger or turbo. and then you'll still need to do some/most of these things.

Message: FED,
I've got an auto trans. I think with the superchips tuner you can adjust your speedo, I'm not sure though. Most of my driving is on the local streets, with about 25-50 miles of hi-way driving per week. I do one or two long trips per year, that's why I can't decide on 3.91's or 4.10's

Message: the superchips will fix the speedo
KRC and the fastman among others sell a speedo
calibration kit around $150
also chrysler can change it on the obd2 to match
the gears the truck has around $100
In my opinion the 3.91 is the perfect ratio for
street high way with the V6 4.10 leaning more
towards racing the .69 o/d the rpm is only 200
higher at the same speed more off line and
towing power than the std 3.55
