Subject: AC Knob broke IP: Logged
Message: My AC/Heater knob will only work at the highest setting. I'm guessing the switch is bad and needs replacing. Anyone had this problem? And how easy is it to do??

Message: I assume you're talking blower fan speed. The switch may be at fault but with a multi-winding fan motor the lower speed coils may be open causing the same symptom.
You may troubleshoot with a volt/ohm meter to determine failure before buying the switch.
Fan motors are spendy, many leave as high speed only mode. I know, that blows.

Message: check the blower resistor. depending on the year of your truck it's either on the firewall(earlier yrs), (later yrs) inside the cab under the pass side of the dash. maybe someone that's changed it can chime in. i ahven't had to look for mine yet.

Message: Thanks for your input; I wound up doing a search on the site and found an old forum from 2004. It was the blower motor resister after all; a cost of $10.60 at the local dealership and took me a whole 5 minutes to replace.
On my 2002 QC, it is located under the passanger dash just beyond the glovebox. You will see a wire harness held in with two screws, the resister is just beyond that.
Again, thanks a bunch. I just got my $30 worth by joining this site...
