Subject: seized my 3.9 =( IP: Logged
Message: so i seized my little 3.9...
thing is i have to buy a new motor
debating whether or not to buy a 93-97 5.9 that went into the ram(along with a computer obviously) because i want that power, or build up another 3.9...
what do you guys think
'93 Dakota CC 3.9 auto (4.10 gears, LSD, exhaust, FIPK, lowered, rear anti-sway bar)

Message: probably take your truck in for a complete check up on everything before you hit 150,000 miles...
im really not sure on what caused this

"oh yeah, you got bad balljoints, tie rods, rotors, drums, rear end seems to be full of metal shavings, the giglin pin on the end of the wobblin stick seems to be wigglin instead of giglin, and that damn woblin stick ain't goin the right way. should be about 20 grand to fix it all." hmm and all i wanted was the oil changed....lol frigin dealer would try and have a field day on my ass.

Message: I say put in the V8, the 3.9 is weak. Then you will have lots of power. I am sure thats what you are after. If the budget will allow it.

im sticking with the 3.9 and am going to have it rebuilt with performance parts.
by the way...anyone know where i could buy 19 FMS?
those are injectors correct?

Message: I just ruined my 3.9 and had to have it rebuilt. My oil pump shaft broke and oil pump stopped just as I started crossing a long narrow bridge while doing 70 MPH, I couldn't stop or pull over. Since it happen very suddenly, I thought it was a bad pressure sensor. I don't know what makes the pump shaft break but make sure you get a new one.

Message: It would be cheaper to get a low mileage V6 and
swap it around $600 to 800
The V8 will also bolt right in just need to run
the V8 computer and add 2 injector wires thats it
quite an easy swap $800 to $1000 you can find a
V8 for
A nicly built V6 with a cam diff pistons raising
the comp to 10 to 1 around $2000 bored crank
ground new oil pump and hardened shaft
be sure you either replace or get the rods resized
also with a little machine work you can run the
heavier V8 rod this makes the V6 lower end
vertualy bullet prof the stock lower end will
esily handle a 100 shot of nitrious or 8psi
boost
Its around $300 for a computer ballance of the
rods pistons rings are all weighed bobb weights
used and spun ballance this also will make the
lower end stronger and run smother

oil pump went out while i was driving and i didnt realize the pressure was nearly gone and basically burned up the engine...
yes very unfortunate i know
but yeah, so Larry you think its more worth it to soop up my current engine with everything including a new crank etc... ?
