okay i was just wondering why is the 210 cam is the biggest we can go? i mean can we go bigger?! also ive been told not to use 1.7 RR's on the 210 cam why?! is it cause of the vacumm effect? cause i can always fix that.

it,s partly to do with that,
if the map does,nt have enough vaccuum at idle,it gives the pcm a voltage reading that you are at part throttle, which in turn the pcm will feed the engine more fuel, this causes very poor idle if it will idle at all

also you have timing and fuel deliver issues, with more dur on a cam these become even more of a issue, reflashing, performace pcm or a piggy back system is needed to remap fuel and timing delivery or you can go to a carb

this is the best i can explain it,hope this helped some

the vaccuum res will help with cruise, heater etc
but i don,t think it will work for the map sensor, thats alot of work and cost to find out it won,t work,

i,d try the vaccuum res now on the map sensor and see how things work before you buy a cam that you can,t use,if the motor runs fine maybe the res will help

you can run as big a cam as you want. but, it won't do any good and will run like crap if the rest of the equipment(i.e. engine, trans) isn't set up to take advantage of the extra lift and duration and new operating powerband.

for instance, you install a cam that give peak hp/torque from 2500 rpm to 5500 rpm you might as well throw out your stock torque converter and get a hi-stall.

you'll be very disappointed if you don't take your time and pick the right components to give the best performance possible for your application. racing, towing, etc....

The stock comp will run the KRC 210 cam or the 2
hughes engines cams

Hughes engines also has 3 hotter cams but yes you
will need to do computer mods

92 to 95 you can run the mopar V6 performance comp

96 and up obd2 there are places shuch as KRC that
can reflash to run any cam in the V6

You also have more options with all trucks like
the smt6 timing and fuel control Apexi fuel only
these are piggy back units

There is also a custom jet chip option to add fuel
and timing for the cam

Hughes has a 312 312 .540 cam for the V6 this would
be for racing only and should also have some port
work done to handle the increased lift and duration

Hughes engines also has springs

crower has springs socaldakota.com

there are others like crane and more that make
springs that will work 318 same spring but you
will also have to change the retainers you can
reuse the keepers clips what ever you want to
call them

John at socal can also custom grind any cam
profile you want
