Subject: Sticky steering IP: Logged
Message: Whenever my 98 CC SLT V6 is cold the steering is a little sticky. FOr instance...i will be driving and turn the wheel and after about an inch of turn in the wheel there is resistance and once I pass the resistance it jumps and the car will veer slightly. This happens only for the first 5 minutes or so if it has been sitting. Power steering levels are fine. Let me know if you know anything about it ...
Thanks!

Message: Flush, clean, replace the fluid.
I used Seafoam Transtune to clean, then drained.
And I installed Amsoil Universal ATF.
If that doesn't fix it, then you have a real problem.
Check belt tension too.
Do you have underdrive pulleys?

Message: flushing it wont help, the damage in the rack is already done... the rack and pinion in your truck has what we call at the shop morning sickness.... lol i know it sounds funny but thats what its called normally... what happens is the rack and pinion gets tight spots in it and feels like its binding up and as it gets warmer the steering turns freely... basicly what it calls for is to have the rack and pinion replaced and flushing of the system....
