Message: Scott,
Does it float, so it draws from the top of the gas, inside the giant plastic contraption the pump, float, filter and a deck of cards are mounted in?

Message: again, maybe the percocet but i'll try answering what I think you're asking shatto.
the only fuel pumps I've seen have either a filter or pick up screen on the bottom of the pump. It picks up fuel from the bottom of the tank.
When I replaced the pump in my old 95, i opted for one from napa that was oe for my application - ie filter on bottom - vs pick up screen. Had I thought more about it and if/when i have to do it again, I'd opt for the one with pick up screen and add in an inline filter under the bed.
those filters can get dirty and restrict gas flow. I'd rather trap it in the line vs before the pump.
