I'am new to the website Hello All. And a proud owner of a Dodge Dakota 2000. Recently I was rear ended and come too find out the person who hit me had no insurance..... So I got stuck with repairing it myself. I was rear ended she was going 40 mph. So I have quite abit of damage. I'am in search of a bumper and left side quarter panel. All the damage is on the left side of my truck. If anyone has any info. Please contact me. Thanks

Sorry to hear that. I got hit too a while back and the guys little toyota was all messed up. I just had a little in the tail gate and some plastic to repair. The dakota stood strong. Only spent $100 to fix the plastic and bought a stereo system with the other $1100. Too bad they didn't have insurance:(

Whats the price of driving in the states with no insurance? In Canada I think it is a minimum $2500 fine. Something guarenteed if they have a accident.

What state are you in DakGal?
Va has a system that you dont even know your paying it but you are and its to cover uninsured drivers like your situation.
We pay it our taxes and DMV fees.
Funny though, only like 1/10th of the people know about it and even claim if they are in an accident with and uninsured.
If your not in Va you may check to see if your state has the same.

my truck got hit last year in a parkig lot andwhen i came out my passenger back side was dented and paint was scratched pretty bad........i nevr realy got it fixedi ot money from the insuarnc company but i just poped out the dent myself and then i put wax o the paint and it covers it up pretty good........i need to get that fixed before the car show =(
and shouldn't your insurance company pay for it?

I hope you filed an accident report. A friend of mine got rear ended and got screwed royally.
The person who hit him wasn't worried about his car...and my friends truck had a minor scratch to the bumper...so no one bothered to call the police. They didn't even exchange names.
To make a long story short, the person who rear ended my friend filed an accident report 2 days later, with license plate of truck, description, etc and ended up sueing my friend for over 5 grand.
If anyone even scrapes me, you can bet your ass a police report is filed...I would rather have the insurance cover my ass than get sued over something like this.
BTW...most states, Indiana included, has uninsured motorist added into their insurance policy. You pay the deductable, and your company pays the rest and goes after the person who hit you...I would be calling your insurance agent and asking what is going on...you shouldn't be out more than what your deductable is.

The law here in Texas is a no insurance ticket = $385+ If you get 2 tickets within 2 years, your license gets suspended for 2 years. Needless to say, there are still idiots out there without it. F-ing morons. I carry FULL coverage insurance so that no matter what happens, I am covered, uninsured motorist and all.... Also, if you get hit by an uninsured driver, I think you can sue them and have there wages garnished to pay the insurance company back. (not sure on this though....)

hey i also got reended and am goin to buy parts off of ebay. I have seen bumpers go for less than 200 on there, and elsewhere they go for about 5-700. I would make sure you keep checkin ebay, it has saved me alot of Money. Let me now how you make out, I will be glad to help you anyway that i can. I also know that most insurance policies cover uninsured motorists so i would talk to your insurance agency.

As 98 said, most insurance policies have uninsured coverage on them. I have full coverage on my truck and I know that is included in mine. I wouldn't have a policy without it. There are too many nuts out there to not have it. In indiana ( where i go to school, live in Ohio) you get an automatic 90 suspension of your license and they fine you 150 the first time, 250 the second, etc.

i got hit by a kid who stole his sisters car... no insurance, no license, no brain!... i got stuck with the bill... while there might be tough laws in texas about no insurance... the cops sure dont give a damn... by the way... i was rearend in a Dairy Queen drive through.... that little bastard!

I got rearend a while back too, the only problem was that I backed into someone! and my dumba$s, it was at a stoplight, that skipped me like 5 times. My dad's ram killed her neon!!!

his bumper got knocked down, but was fixed by adjusted it back up, and the tailpipe on the right got bent down, but that was getting redone anyway.

I got rear ended on the way to work six months ago.
Some joker in an old Datsun Z ('81) wasn't paying attention, and didn't see everyone slowing due to a traffic jam.
He struck my bumper, the bumper dinged the back of the bed, and the bed rocked foward and dinged the back of the cab. Still, it hardly looked as if my truck was involved in an accident!
His Z car was totaled. Both fenders were crushed, His hood was wasted (his engine was the only thing that kept his car from going under my truck), and his unibody was so badly twisted that the doors would not close after he and his passenger got out (the roof actually had a crease running between the "B" pillers).
My Dak has since been repaired, but, I would up with a couple of herniated discs in my neck & back.

I had my Dakota exactly 33 days. When Backing out of parking stall someone backed into the Driverside Quarter Pannel. I live in the Hell hole UT. and because it was in a Parking lot. UT Laws deems it No fault accident I got stuck with the Bill. I was so Pissed. In fact this Happened last Tuesday. Called the police and everything Officer amazingly enough showed up but would not file Ppolice report either because it was in the parking Lot. Does anyone else have this stupid law in there states

Since you are from MI it should be covered under no fault. You should sue the other party for your damages and make sure that you filled out a police report. Ins. cos like to know when someone gets in a wreck without ins. so they can not insure that driver.

Bought my 2001 4X4 CC on 6/8/01. Got rearended on 7/14/01. Got sideswiped in October. Rearended again in Feb. 02. Luckily on both rearends my trailer hitch took the impact so not much body damage. The sideswipe resulted in scratches and small dents. All is repaired. However my back and neck messed up and the doc says I'll need treatment for rest of my life.
Consider yourself lucky if it's only truck damage you have to deal with, although I understand the frustation of your ride being damaged by someone else.

I used to live in Michigan too, got rear-ended in Flint over the holiday season. Grrr...
Did you get a police report filed on it? If so, submit it to your insurance company. The guy that hit me didn't have insurance, but I turned it in and they paid for my repairs anyway. I think my insurance company sued him or something. All I know is it was $2,000 to fix that I didn't pay.

i have the king of all stories... i got sideswiped when the truck was 1 month old. this happened at a movie theater while i was watching Titanic... the guy left and i got stuck paying the bill.
got hit 6 months later on the passeger side front panel... broke the V6 badge and left a 10 inch long scrape all the way to the front... happened while i was watching a little-league soccer game... got stuck with the bill.
last day of high school, some dumb chick opened her door and nailed my door... took out a square inch section of paint, and dented the door down to the metal... i go stuck with the bill.
someone shot my truck with a pelet... lifted the paint and damaged the sheet metal. when it started to rust i took the truck in to get it repaired. again, i got stuck with the bill.
and most recently, someone bumped my driver's side rear quarter panel and left a long scratch right above the wheel well... haven't gotten it fixed yet.
total cost of repairs is somewhere around $700... and the funny thing is that i have NEVER been in the car for a single accident.

I'm in the same situation and have been looking for a good supplier of rear bumpers. Minimal damage on mine, but the estimate was $325 to pound out and repaint...not including the body color panels on the bumper, or $625 for a new bumper. I am interested in either OEM or alternative styles, and appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

I have a 98 dodge dakota sport, I swear it is cursed, I was following somebody down a road (a little too fast) and I lost control around a turn and hit a horse crossing sign, racking up a bill of 3 grand. Now I know that is my own fault but I paid for it without insurance and I accept I was at wrong. Earlier today I was goimg down the road at 55 mph (which is the speed limit) and someone I knew was going down the road, he was going under the speed limit and I wasn't going to wait, so I went to pass him, when I got my run he cut into the other lane to hold me off and I had to lock em up to miss him but in the prccess went into the ditch and hit some ladys colvert, now she is telling all the people I know that I am a horrible driver and that another car was in this incident (which is not true). I'm at a loss of what to do. I bent my bumper back into my radiator which in turn bent the plastic guard into my fan. I already know that I need to pay for her colvert but she is threatening to file charges for reckless driving and I don't know what to do . I would like suggestions as what to do! Can anybody help me with my problem?

I got rear ended in my 92 last week, body shop says it's totaled but the kid's insurance company has to bring in an adjuster to look at it, it's now been a week, the adjuster their supposed to bring in is two hours away that doesnt seem right now does it.
