Message: Larger parts stores like Autozone usually carry the plug in kits.

Message: why not go back to the dodge dealer and have the factory electrical trailer package installed and then you wont have to worry about voiding your warrenty.... all it is an adapter that plugs into the factory harness that feeds your lights on the bed.... all those ones you get from autozone, pepboys, advanced are universal stlye that you have to splice into your harness....

Message: Scott C - that is simply not true - I've bought the aftermarket plug in style that is custom tailored for individual aplications. Mopar is not the only source...

Message: Thanks so much to all you folk who sent me advice. I was finally able to locate a HOPPY at Car Quest - Advance did not have it, nor did Auto Zone. I was not willing to pay the Dodge dealership $265.00 for the part and installation. Now I have enough money left over to haul the boat and GO FISHING! Thanks again for all your help.

Message: well i assumed the one from dodge would save him from the warrenty issues.... mine came with one on it and it the large circular connector for the electric trailer brakes thats more common on the larger trailers and it came with the adapter for that flat plug with the 3 female and 1 male connector for small common trailers.... seemed to be the best setup for the case of pulling different types of trailers if he was to change trailers...

Message: Scott - you'll need to add a brake controller to that stock set up if you want to use trailer brakes - that's easy to wire into your trailer package, but not included. There shouldn't be warranty issues with the aftermarket plug in modules - they are designed to safely run the extra trailer lights. The mopar set up is nice, that's what I have too; but more than many people need for a small trailer.

Message: Lucky for you that someone else added it then - you're all set. It isn't included with the factory tow package.

Message: I bought the wiring kit from my Dodge dealer for my 05 QC, took about 35 minutes to install. Doesn't void warranty and you get the 4 wire and the 7 wire plugs.

Message: My 98 3.9, with the heavy duty package came with the stubs.
I was under the impression all did.
Had to growl at the shell installer because the center brake light blinked.
