 Subject: Ignition Coil

I replaced my stock coil for an ACCEL coil with harness adapter for my 98 about a month ago. Was wondering will this coil affect my SMOG test, or should I go back to a stock coil till I pass smog?

Should not effect it but, some people on this forum say these coils do not perform well on these trucks.

The Accel coil performs fine. Some say they don't last long.
No affect on the smog test.

Sal,
Presuming you didn't change coils just to have a name on the case; what you've done is give yourself a better, hotter spark which ignites the fuel/air mixture better making better, cleaner, combustion for more power.
Upgraded wires give full benefit of the coils performance.
You'll notice it idles better too.
