It uses less hp to drive all of your accessories, however, it also drives them slower making them less efficient. Your altenator puts out less power and your water pump flows less coolant. Some people install "overdrive" altenator pullies to compensate for the reduction in output but would seem to defeat the original purpose. Some kits have larger pullies (under drive) altenator pullies which use even less power but further reduce the output of the altenator to the point that it can't keep up with the usage.

the underdrives are worse parts you can buy.... they slow the alternator down so bad that at idle it doesnt charge the battery your truck runs off of it..... i had bought at set installed them and kept them on for about 3 months.... i do work for a nature center every halloween with a few buddies and i spent one night there in my truck so i can watch over the stuff for the haunted hike well the following morning with having the truck run all night for heat and all i shut it off while i wanst near it came back and it all did was click.... so that day i left went to my house changed the pulleys back over to stock and had no more problems sence then..... so now i use them for paper weights....

I guess if anyone plans on letting their truck run all night then it might be a good idea to follow Scott's advice.

yeah could sell them to him.... but i cant see selling a proven peice of sh!t part that isnt worth having.... i'll just keep them for paper weights.... their doing just fine holding papers down on my tool box at work.... i didnt spend much for them from truck performance but it was what you would call an experiment and it failed so for something i cant recommend i wouldnt sell....

We also don't use the under drive pullys unless
your crusing the high way than they may pay off
but normal city or mostly city they create a
flat spot from the volts droping low end responce
