Message: Would you look at this KRC is now also using the
NGK spark plugs
http://www.krcperformance.net/newcontent/ignition.html
They must have found out the same thing we did
the Vpower plugs run very well in the mag motors
stock heat range FR4 same as autolite 3924 5224
1 colder FR5 same as autolite 3923
we were just testing plugs to find a cheaper plug
that ran as well as the halos at $8 each the
V power are $2.25 each
Autolites run good for $.99 each walmart but find
out for yourself try a set you will be impressed
better throttle response power and gas mileage
is what we have found

Message: 1 thing I need to add to this is the gap they
come gaped at .039 this must be checked and
set
stock ignition
obd1 92 to 95 .035
obd2 96 and up .040
with MSD box and coil
obd1 .045
obd2 .050
This is the gap we are seeing the best performance
throttle response and fuel economy with the
FR V Power plugs
Try them you will not be disipointed they run
great in these motors

Message: Yes we do. We do run the Autolites occasionally still, but we've been running almost all NGK's for the last couple of years.

Message: Larry - have you ever used the halo plugs in the V8s? I've got a 2002 QC 4x4 with 4.7L auto. I'm nearing 60k miles so it's about time to change plugs.

Message: Yes we have run them in the V8's all of them and
they work great
The NGK V Power for the 4.7 is ZFR6F-11G .040 gap
The halo's seam to work very well with the over
head cam motors and coil packs on some of the
imports the diff is like night and day
The 4.7 plug is B-DR15YC-1 this is the same heat
range as the 3923 the 3.7 and 4.7 do run 1 colder
than the old 3.9 the dash 1 is the gap the halo
has a gap of .044
I get all the halo's from Roger
http://www.haloplug.com/
Either plug will run great in the 4.7
halo's are like $9 they went up if you get the
halo call and order last 2 times roger sent the
17 when we ordered the 15 don't know if he fixed
that on his site or not 17 would be to hot
888 - 301 - 5012
NGK's are 2.44 for your truck your choice both
are far better than the autolight or champ in
these motors
The NGK and halo are very close but still I say
the halo is a little better if you want to spend
the money its also what we run in the super
charged motors with the blower you can hear the
change in sound and perf of the motor when the
boost comes in around 2000rpm
Most will not pop for the halos so the next best
is the V Power

Message: One more plug here
The Paxon super charger that we installed on the
05 hemi truck came from GS Motorsports and the kit
came with the NGK V Power plugs for the hemi
That also must tell you something is right with
these V Power NGK plugs KRC GS Motorsports and
probably a lot more performance oreanted shops
are using them

Message: Larry,
you said the halo and NGK are close but the halo is better. Is it well worth the added cost to get the halo's? what kind of difference are you referring to? HP? milage? drivablity (smoother idle? longer plug life?)?
For me, i have the distributorless ignition so the cost of the halo's alone would be around the cost of conventional plugs and wires for a distributor based vehicle.

Message: The halo's make a diff you will notice the first
time you drive your truck
better throttle response, smother idle more power
and better fuel economy all around better running
motor
getting no quenting effect is actually like
advancing the timming about 2 degree's we all
know how week these trucks are on timming you
can advance the timming about 6 degrees before
it will begain to ping they did this for 1 reason
so you could run the cheapest gas you can find
without any trubble
The halo's also carrie a 100,000 mile gurantee
against break down
In my opinion they are worth the money but as I
said most will not pay the price
I have been using halo's since 1999 and is the
only plug you will find in my motors maybe that
is why my mileage is always so good last check
23.5 95 4X4 daily driver
F&B makes a bigger throttle body for the 4.7
with a cold air set up 15 hp gain or better
you may want to check that out also will help
gas mileage I beleave it was 03 the 4.7 got
a bigger throttle body from the factory

Message: larry,
thanks for the feedback. You have convinced me to give the halo's a try. It will be a couple of weeks before I get them ordered and installed. I will post drivablity/mpg update after installation.
I looked into the k&n cai, according to the dyno on their website, hp gain occurred at over 3k RPM. I'm only going to hit that on severe acceleration. I'm not sure i'll gain any hp from cai. I currently run pureone premium air filter in the stock air box.
I have looked at fastman TB's before and may go the route of a bigger tb.
my primary concern is not hp, but milage. Love the power of the 4.7 over the 3.9 but need/want gas milage now. Don't have 5 grand + to upgrade everything to go after both :D
