Subject: 88-90 reman 3.9 into 1998? IP: Logged
Message: I can get a good deal on a reman 3.9 long block for an 88-90, but I have a 98. I live in Phoenix so this thing has to pass smog. Obvious question is will my intake, exhaust, etc... fit and pass smog, and if not why? Thanks

Message: you,ll need your heads, intake,tb,pushrods, valve covers and maybe lifters from the 98 motor,
and you,ll have to fab a crank sensor bracket for the back[pass.side]of motor, theres no mounting holes on the 88-91 blocks
98 intake bolts on straight down to the heads and the rockers get their oil thru the pushrods,
88-91 intake bolts on at a 90 degree angle to the heads and get their oil thru the block, to heads, to the rocker shafts
if you can get a short block then you can just change things over as stated above, other then these things the blocks are basicly the same,
in other words its very do-able
if the price is real good go for it
