Message: I have a 03 w/ a v6. All I have done to it is V8TB, 180 thermo, edlebrock 10" aircleaner w/ 3"KNN, flowmaster muffler, and a huge scoop. Will my dakota be able to pull a pontoon boat through the hills of tennessee or am I out of luck? Also how much can a stock dakota pull w/ a hitch? thanks in advance

Message: how big of a pontoon boat you talking abouit.... well put it this way... ive pulled things from 3500 to 5500 lbs (cars on trailers to boats) with mine and its a 99 V6 and i have a V8 TB and the 17748 dynomax... some hills were a b!tch and some werent but spent most of its time outta O/D when i was rollin up hills but on flat road allowing it to hit O/D with a steady cruise it was ok on the highway.... but if your in town keep it out of O/D if your cause of the stop and go.... my buddy has an 01 he pulls a boat thats around 18 - 20ft so you should be ok....

Message: I would recommend installing a transmission cooler if you plan on towing the boat alot.
Your milage is going to suck too. I towed 12x6 uhaul trailers in my old 95 3.9L 4x4. I usually got between 10 and 12 mpg. No trailer I got 17-18.

Message: tranny coolers are easy to put in.... its just that gotta re-route your lines alittle.... i havent installed one on mine yet, i just have an extra fan that i wired in thats blowing more air across the radiator keeping the temp down on the radiator more.... i got just over 40k on mine and changed the fluid at 20k mile intervals and never had it come out burnt or have any clutch material laying on the bottom of the pan... but for the cooler just take your line that comes from the top of the radiator and run that to the cooler and out of the cooler run that to the tranny.... for size i would say get a decent one thats around 12x12inchs that should be large enough to help with extra cooling....

Message: Make sure you are running the cooler line off the pump side of the tranny line, not the return. It has to flow through the cooler then back to the tranny. To find out, just unhook a hose from the rad cooler then start it up and see if it pumps out. If it doesn't then you know its the other line. On my 2000, its the top one, like Scott said. Have someone with you so you dont lose too much fluid.
