most common problem for airbag light coming on is the peice behind the steering wheel called a clock spring... its black circular ring that holds an electrical ribbon that turns with the steering wheel so your horn works and for the driver side airbag.... with the light being on it has stored a code in the airbag module and is able to be retrived by a scanner so you can get the airbag code for diagnosing the problem...

Will the horn not work if the clock spring is bad? I assume mine is bad since I turned my steering wheel too much when it was disconnected from the steering shaft. I heard a weird noise but wasn't sure but now my engine light is on. My horn works but I cant think of any other reason why my light would be on. Dont really want to spend $50 on a hunch.

that clock spring can break in weird ways.... allowing the horn to work but kick the light on for the airbag or no horn and airbag light staying off and so on.... but if ya spun that wheel too far in one direction while it was out of the vehicle then you damaged that clockspring.... that clockspring is designed to turn equal amounts left and right.... if you put it in say 2 full turns to left or right then you decentered that clockspring and broke it by turning the wheel to far and breaking the ribbon....
