to me it was worth every penny. it unlocked even more power out of my other mods as well as add the power that it was supposed too. do you have any other mods yet?

Just a K&N air filter and a FlowMaster muffler - that's it.

Hi everyone, I'm a regular follower of this forum and own a '96 Dodge Dakota Sport (single-cab, 5- speed auto). Lots of valuable information on this forum about our trucks! What about Mopar's Engine Controller? It seems they make one for the V8 engine but I couldn't find anything for a V6? One would think this controller would work for the V6's since they are just the 318 minus 2 cylinders for '96. I could always give Mopar a call but wanted to check here first. Here is a link to what I was looking at. -Kyle

My current modifications are K&N Filtercharger (Cold Air Intake), 50mm TBody, glasspack muffler w/ stock 2.5" pipe, brass dist. cap & rotor, & Taylor cables.

I found the performance/tow program worked best with my mods. I have a Fastman 46 mm TB, 1.7 HS roller rockers, drop-in K&N filter with the factory plastic air cleaner elbow removed. CPS mod, dynomax 17748 muffler, gasket matched intake and head plus smoothed out and radiused intake manifold, 3:55 gears. It develops great power from about 2800 rpm and up. Low end is somewhat better than stock. The performance program didn't seem to do any better than the perf/tow program, actually I thought it wasn't as good. As for the price of it, maybe a bit too high but it gives you flexibility to change it back to any program you decide to use or back to stock. Something you can't do by yourself with a different computer flash or total upgrade.

92 to 95 there is a V6 performance comp avalible
no tunners or flashing avalible anymore

96 and 97 guys you got a raw deal no tunner no
performance comp your only option is a jet chip
they add around 8 to 10 hp and around 15 torque
one nice thing about the jet chips is they really
help gas mileage and low end off idle response
after 200 miles you will notice them at crusing
speed and more power comming in around 2500 3000
rpm
although you do have the option of a flash from
KRC or BG chrysler

98 and up you have all 3 options

On my 95 4X4 all the bolt ons 48 F&B crank sensor
mod and a stock comp with stage 2 gasket match
intake and just the head ports polished the
pacesetter prediter dual which really helpd the
low end perf my last 3 mileage checks as I got
24mpg, 23.5mpg 25mpg 3.55 gears running shell
89 that is great the best I ever got was 25.8
on a 260 mile high way trip cruse at 62mph

with the perf comp 20 22 mpg 19 if I had my foot
into it and I also had to run premium or it
would ping like crazy to me the small perf gain
over the stock comp was not worth the gas mileage
decrease and the fuel cost I can also run on reg
with no ping but for some reason I get just a
little less mileage on reg gas so that justifies
using the 89 and this motor has 114,000 miles

A stock V6 should get from 17 to 20 mpg if your
lower something is not right once you start to
do the mods and increase power and eficency this
should start to go up or you have probs this holds
true for either 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive the stock
full size ram tuned corectly 20 to 22 on the
high way is average with a 318 its all in the
tunning but they are very capible of getting
good mileage
