Hello all,
Its been a long time since i've posted here. I just want to let you guys know about modding your V6. It is a waste of mony. I have the following done to my truck:
Flowmaster 40's Catback
v8 Throttle Body
CAI
IAC Relocation
4:10 Gears
And my truck will still run 16-17sec 1/4 mile.
I said to hell with it and bought a Mustang GT. I have thrown a few mods at my mustang and the best I have run is a 13.9 @ 98mph. So if you really wanna get serious about drag racing, get a bigger motor and forget about your dakota, they are not worth the money you put into them. I also have a motorcycle (ZX10R) that I run with stock wheelbase and I have run a 10.2 @ 142mph. Don't waste your money modding these trucks, its not worth it.

Not all that put mods on their trucks do it to drag. I for one started out trying to increase my mpg and now i just throw money at it just because i've found i enjoy turnin' the wrenches and i have the dough to throw. If you planned on racing then you shouldn't have bought a truck. You should have bought a sports car.

What kind of idiot buys a truck when what they really want is a fast car? It only proves that you are the moron and not those that modify their trucks.
I'm also puzzled as to why you bought such a slow car. Now you have to modify that, but then you should have bought something faster in the first place.

Fed's dakota is sweet!! older is ALWAYS better 71 Super bee with a 426 it is not new. No one buys a Dakota to race (they are not made to except the r/t) you buy them caus you know they are the the BEST of the BEST and to pull things. If you baught a dakota to race get the v8 and mod it, the v6 is not a racing motor! So BraggStang your the LOSER!!!!!!!

you know i find it fun moding my vechical. First of all doing the things you did to your truck of course isnt gonna get you close to the 13's your driving a truck get used to it. of course you can make it just as fast but its going to take more money. And hell its funny as hell when you kick somoenes ass in your truck and they are in a sports car.

Here's another point the chump missed. Most Dakotas already have a "bigger engine" than his mustang.
Another point, the first 712 trucks on this site are faster than his mustang

I believe one of you put a supercharger on their dakota and is still running 14's...You all must realize that the dakota is not a truck that is gonna beat anything. I have 4:10s and i'm still running slow........I own one, i'm here because I believed that I could make one fast, but you can't, I spent alot of money on this truck and it is still a dog. Do don't you treat me like some kid that does not know what i'm talking about. I'm 33 years old been in the army for 12 years and i've seen real combat. So don't you come at me like i'm some kid.......Modding this truck is a waste of money and that is what i'm getting at, not here to start anything, just saying how i see it.

Money wise, yes modding the v6 will get expensive... However does that not apply to ALL smaller engines especially since it is hard to find performance parts for them and when you do they're about twice the price of v8 parts... From my own personal modding of my own truck "99' v6 reg cab with 5 speed", it's not that hard to not only absolutely whoop the stock to lightly modded v8 vehicles, but you will still get good fuel mileage doing it "I got 27mpg on my best day and averaged 24-25 mpg the rest"... My truck did have around $5 - $6,000 in it "mainly in shipping cost", but it would beat the socks off of my gt mustang "98" and beat a fairly stock 01' r/t... BUT like you've stated, "Is it worth it?", well I personally thought it was...

ok well for one.... your comparing a V6 dakota against a V8 mustang.... thats crazy.... only one of those is mad for racing and its not the truck.... there is nothing to compare.... so why say its a waste of money.... most people only mod their trucks so they get a bit more power for towing not to try and blow off doors.... hell my wifes V6 mustang beats my truck and i really dont care.... my 99 gt mustang i had killed most of what was on the street.... wish i still had it but it got taken out by a drunk driver and made one side shorter by 3 inches cause how the body buckled.... and may i say i dont want another one cause they are rolling death trapts.... a guy my wife worked with at a body shop, he was on his way in to work one day and a little toyota compact clipped his right rear of his mustang and ripped it right off just behind the front seats.... if he happened to be wearing his seat belt he too would have been ripped in too 2 peices.... so to that accident the mustang my wife and i own now sits in a garage on a trailer being modded for show purpose only and she drives a V6 durango.... so in my point there is only ONE thing to compare.... atleat i'll live if my truck gets hit like that and my wife will live if her truck gets hit like that.... to you, you wont cause there is no full frame to that car to save your a$$.... so if ya wanna raise hell about wasting money raise hell about that and not about putting money into something that might not hit a 12 sec pass....
