Subject: New Fuel Pump, Gauge Not working IP: Logged
Message: Ok, so I replaced the fuel pump and now it's running like a champ again. However, the gauge doesn't go above 1/4 tank even when it's full. I noticed that the pump ass'y comes in two parts, the bottom of which "floats". And, of course, the gauge float is attached to the bottom "floating" part.
How do I attach that floating part to the bottom of the tank, so I get an accurate reading??
Hint: if you have a buddy, it's MUCH easier to remove the bed than to drop the gas tank...

Message: an yes alot of us have been saying slide the bed back, much easier then dropping the tank
ok i had the same problem you have
check your connections first
for me i had to go back in losen and turn the pump assembly the float hangs up on the side of the tank
you need to have it facing towards the cab then
slightly to the drivers side
wait for a few more responses first see what a few other guys have to say

Message: Yeah, it sounds like you might have misaligned to pump assembly causing to have interference with the side of the tank. Loosen up the nut and make sure your alignment marks are lined up.
If it doesn't fit, you're using the wrong hammer!
